Since David Cameron first announced the government’s intentions to enable and encourage local authority schools to convert to Academies allowing them to run themselves independently of local authority regulation and bureaucracy, the media has been full of articles on the subject. June figures have shown that more than 1200 schools have now applied to become academies since June 2010 and of these applications, over 800 have been approved and over 400 are now open.
The decision to convert to an academy will involve very many considerations for schools with the overriding objective of improving the school for the benefit of the pupils. One of the considerations will be the effect on the school of taking over the financial and related services currently provided by the local authority and this is where Pearson Buchholz can help.
